Value of 'roles' in userCtxt object is null in filter function

I had setup filtered replication from CouchDB 1.6 (to PouchDB) based on user roles which worked fine.
However, in 2.0, the 'req.userCtx.roles' object gives null value in the filter function even though the user is logged in and has roles assigned.
