Remove all old and leftover main methods

The cmdline package was introduced to rebuild the entire command line interface. All left over main methods haven't been tested for a long time and should be removed.

They are not part of our public API, should be safe to remove without deprecation. A special notice has to be placed in the README file to inform users.
