Hadoop daemon startup scripts cause duplication of command line arguments

Command line arguments such as -Dhadoop.log.dir are appearing multiple times when launching Hadoop daemons. This can cause confusion for an operator looking at the process table, especially if there are different values for multiple occurrences of the same argument.
