Improve POM for better integration with downstream ivy projects

Currently there are 2 issues affecting the downstream ivy projects:

1. no default value for slf4j.version
2. dependency on a non-standard junit artifact

I suggest we correct both of these in order to ensure the smooth upgrade path for things like Sqoop.
