Maven2 resource filtering : could be more powerful thanks to the use of templates

It is currently possible to filter ressources (i.e. replace ${variable} inside the config files by their value).

Something great would be to allow the use of Freemarker (or Velocity, or both) syntax, so that the resources are actually seen as Freemarker templates.
This would allow to completly customize the configuration files / resources depending on the maven2 profile.
