PHP remote debug socket exception

Remote debugger doesn't work. The debugger reaches the first break point but once I hit F8 or any other option to continue, it takes some time and then a pop up comes up with the error:  "socket exception occurred". The same setup works in the old 8.2.

Nothing in the xdebug log and only the lines below in the IDE log:
